How small businesses are faring in 2015 Small businesses face unique challenges, but there is a problem that always keeps small business owners the night :. rising health care costs

In fact, when the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) released its annual report earlier this year, they found that, for the 29th consecutive year the costs of health care remains a number one concern.

Thus, with the end of the year approaching, are small businesses overcome these challenges in 2015?

Healthcare business a challenge Major Small

a major challenge to small businesses in America continues to be escalating costs of health care.

A recent study by the Kaiser Family Foundation (Kaiser) and Research & Educational Trust Health (of hRet) found that health insurance premiums sponsored by employers continue to rise, with premiums more than four (4) percent in 2015 to $ 17,545 per year for a family. It is therefore not surprising that the study also found small employers are less likely to offer health insurance.

For employees, the news does not get any better. Kaiser found the franchises are up by nearly three times faster than premiums and seven times faster than wages and inflation.

Healthcare Relief on the way?

Although the situation may seem bleak, there are signs help could be on the way.

Earlier this year, a bipartisan bill was introduced by US Senators Charles Grassley (R-IA) and Heidi Heitkamp (D-ND) and Representatives Charles Boustany (R-lA) and Mike Thompson (D-CA) that would provide small businesses with access to affordable health care options

specifically, the Act on small emergency health care companies would :.

  • enable small employers to use tax-efficient funds (through health reimbursement arrangements) to help employees in their insurance out-of-pocket individual health and related medical costs

  • Providing exemptions to compliance requirements and associated penalties

This is an extremely positive development.

If this bill becomes law, small businesses with fewer than 50 employees will have another option deal with rising group premiums. In addition, employees may be reimbursed for out-of-pocket and related medical costs as they struggle to meet their rising deductibles.
