Integrity: The cornerstone of character -

There is a saying that our character is shaped by our integrity. Do the right thing when nobody is looking, do the right thing when it matters most, and to do the right thing as an example for others is what defines us as human beings.

I'll admit I'm a people watcher. Whether at the mall, a restaurant or a gas station, I have always been intrigued by why people do what they do. And sometimes they do is not always the right thing. Recently, I was getting gas at our small, local grocery store. You know the type: get gas, talk to the guys coffee, grab a soda, and off to work! This morning, however, I noticed someone file a bill of $ 20 on their portfolio. The person does not see that they dropped the bill and entered the deli. At that moment, a young student ran and picked up the money. What I was next witness was the most interesting transformation of human character that I had never seen

The boy stared at the bill. I could tell he was happy to find some money on the ground. I could also see struggling with the idea of finding money - you know, the old "finders keepers" rule. But then I saw his expression change; the other side of him shouted to return the money to its rightful owner. He turned to the grocery store and then, of course, I followed him inside to see what he would do. I watched the boy push the man on the shoulder and the return of the money. The gentleman was very grateful and gave him back to tell him: "You have done the right thing, so keep as a reminder of your good deed." The boy replied, "Thanks, but it felt good to make someone happy and do the right thing"

Wow

I'm sure.. we all had a moment when we had to make a choice like that boy did. of course, it might be easy to pocket that $ 20. Or, in the professional world, take credit for a project than we do or blame someone else not to act on a promise. the lack of integrity can cheat us all in both our careers and daily life. the short-term gain of a quick feel good time, did not compare to the feeling we get when we do what is right. We become proud of who we are and what we represent, and a character person is infectious, in a good way!

Being able to look in the mirror and feel proud of looking back is what counts. When you can do that, you can lead a life based on integrity and the opinions of your character. In the workplace, a lack of character we all good things that we can be as professionals, businesses, and private industry as a whole.

As for the child who made the money, I patted his shoulder and said, "Well done" He responded by saying. "I knew no one saw me do it" ., which perfectly demonstrates the point of my story So my question is - when faced with a similar situation, what will you If you do like my young friend, the value of your character will be worth more than the $ 20 bill in your pocket.
