Accidents are frustrating in nature and lack of relevant information can cause delays in settling your claim that only adds to the frustration. The following is a list of information you should be sure to get after an accident to help ensure a smooth claims process.

  • License Information. This should include the full name, license number, date of birth and address of the driver. Make sure you get this information as the owner of the vehicle is not always the driver.
  • Registration Information. Note the year, make, model, license plate number, and color of the vehicle and the insurance company if listed. Make sure you look at the vehicle itself to verify that the record belongs to the vehicle involved in the accident. Insurance companies talk to each other during a protest, so if one side has the information and the other not, the application may be delayed.
