Your Big Day Up In Smoke - Are You Liable -

wedding1 Who in their right mind wants to think about all the things that can go wrong on their wedding day? Certainly not this girl! My big day is officially 8 months and 13 days. You can not imagine the excitement that runs through my veins right now. I feel good - I have everything booked from our website to our photographer. Our cake is ordered and reserved hotel. But there is still so much to do as invitations, flowers, decorations - I can literally feel the stress slipping into my shoulders. So imagine my concern that I came across an article online on the cover of the room hire. Wait, what ??

Yep - you got it. Hall rental coverage. It was not even a fragment of worry until I read about it. Do I need to panic? I guess I have to consider the building of damage consequences; it is not so exaggerated. For example, a candle could catch the curtains on fire or other destructive occurrence could take place. (I would assume our wedding will be elegant enough that customers will not be throwing chairs through windows). How will we pay for damages, especially since we paid for the wedding? I mean, the place actually forces us to hire a police officer out of service. Is it not enough

I'll let you in on a little secret - ?! Your homeowners policy might actually provide coverage for the place! You should definitely check with your independent agent to see if you're covered, but in general, a facility that is rented for short-term special occasions such as meetings, picnics and weddings is covered by your home insurance as long it is used for a non-commercial event. Do not be surprised if the request confirmation of the installation of the cover. And keep in mind your policy does not cover the cover the owner of the rental property. Whether or not they have their own policy, you are responsible for damages caused during your rental period.

WHEW! It was a close, I almost freaked. I'm calling my insurance agent today! Will you, before your next event?

The benefits described here are in the most general terms, and subject to the conditions and actual policy exclusions. For the actual wording cover, conditions and exclusions, see the policy or contact your agent.
