As a primary school, I knew I wanted to start my career in the insurance sector. You usually do not hear that the majority of insurance professionals. Usually, people "fall" in the industry and never thought they would end here. The insurance sector was not the most attractive reputation, so you're probably wondering what triggered my interest? These are excellent internship experiences! My two internships were here at Central!
As students dare to go back to college to begin their spring semester or quarter, they should consider looking for an internship for the summer. In the competitive work environment today, internships can help you start your career and become more competitive when seeking full-time employment. Here are some of the advantages of complete an internship.
Explorer industry. I do not know what you want to do after graduation? You can still read about a career or to talk to someone, but there is no better way to know if you want to work in a specific industry experience to actually do a job and see that it's like inside. You see yourself doing this as a full time job? Do you find it exciting or interesting?
Gaining work experience. As an intern, you are able to know what your college look in a corporate environment. It can also help you bring your course in the real world and add more value to your studies. Then when you start to ask for post-graduation employment, you are able to use examples of placements in addition to your courses and extracurricular activities. This can certainly give you a competitive advantage since many employers prefer candidates with experience.
Increase your network. The people you meet as an intern can introduce you to others in the area and inform you of opportunities. Connect with these people on your LinkedIn account so you can stay in touch with them.
Build references. The employer knows your quality of work, skills and work ethic. They can serve as valuable reference for you in the future when it comes time for you to seek employment. It could even turn into a full time job!
Learn new skills and knowledge. Internships give you the opportunity to see what skills and knowledge are desired in the workplace and allow you to determine your strengths and weaknesses. Then you can work on the development of these skills before graduation. Internship experience can help you develop your communication, teamwork, interpersonal and problem solving skills -. skills that employers seek job candidates
Even if your school does not offer college credit for the realization of a course, experience is irreplaceable. I encourage you to get a good start on the head looking for an internship in your field!
