Planning a Road Trip: The best route is a route Painless -

RoadTrip Summertime is the perfect time to relax on the beach with a parasol, a cold drink, and of course one of those tiny beach chairs. My wife and I recently shared this thought, but immediately followed with "How will we get there?"

We're both fresh out of college and decided to save money and drive rather than fly. We talked of many things that could go wrong, but also how to simply make the best of the long road. Hopefully our tips for planning a trip to the painless route will help you plan your next holiday because, let's face it, it can be very long, difficult, and sometimes quite boring to sit in the car for many hours .

Directions - seems a bit obvious right? You have to know how to get to your destination. GOOD directions but can really make these hours driving much easier. Instead of relying on these ten directions stepparents, we decided to go a little more high-tech with the Google Maps application. He is more than capable of doing the job, and it is free to download. Real-time updates really made a difference to know that ramp to take, what it looked like and how long it has been coming helped us avoid those last minute "Uh oh, I take the North or the south exit? " Mishaps.

Night or day? - One thing we were not sure about was whether we should drive at night or during the day, so we did both (compromising newlyweds in action). On the way to our destination, we drove through the night. Driving through the Appalachian Mountains to 4 hours, in the fog, was certainly not the most enjoyable part of the trip. However, lack of traffic was great, unlike the way back where we seemed to lead to a traffic jam in the other. There was no clear "win" here; the best time to travel really depends on your personal preferences

Safety First -. I know it has been said a million times, but for good reason. We really struggled to stay awake, especially when we drove all night. I acknowledge that I was driving longer than I should have. There's nothing wrong with shooting at a rest stop to nap for a few hours. Getting to your destination a little early is not worth the risk of falling asleep at the wheel

Come Prepared -. We all (hopefully) have car insurance, but very often, many people are unaware of what is actually covered. Before getting in the car for the long trip, it would not hurt to check whether or not your insurance policy does cover things like towing charges or a rental vehicle. A quick call to your insurance agent can give you peace of mind!

Just put a little thought into your travel plan will go a long way toward your goal of traveling stress. I wish all of you summer travelers there will arrive at your destination and return safely, and enjoy the holiday that hard earned! Do you have other suggestions for ways to plan ahead and create a travel without problems?
