Do not get stuck in the snow! Advice before -

There has been a mild winter for most and even if it is already in February, we have a few weeks of cold weather to support. weather snow can make driving difficult to know how you, your family and your car for a road trip winter with these tips to prepare.

Before leaving:

  1. Make sure your vehicle is in perfect operating condition by having it inspected by an approved auto repair facility.
  2. Keep your gas tank at least half full to avoid gas line freeze.
  3. Watch the weather reports before leaving, especially if you are visiting a remote area. Delaying your trip when bad weather is expected. However, if you must leave, let others know your destination, planned route and expected arrival time.
  4. Take a roadside emergency kit that includes blankets, gloves, hats, food, water, important medicines, and matches or a lighter. (Remember, newer vehicles are more integrated lighter). Also, pack a kind of warning device as lights, flares or hazard triangles
  5. If you can, just stay home. do not tempt fate. Even if you drive well in snow, not everyone can

If you get stuck in snow :.

  1. Do not over exert yourself if you try to push or dig your car out of the snow
  2. Stay with your vehicle. It provides temporary shelter and makes it easier for rescuers to locate you.
  3. Tie a cloth in bright colors to the antenna or place a cloth top with a window rolled as a distress signal.
  4. If you become stranded after dark, keep the dome light on. It uses only a small amount of electricity and it will be easier for rescuers to find you.
  5. Make sure the exhaust pipe is not blocked by snow, ice or mud. If the engine is running, blocked exhaust fumes can cause deadly carbon monoxide to leak into the passenger compartment.
  6. Using what is available to insulate your body against the cold. This could include floor mats, newspapers or paper maps.
  7. If possible, run the engine and heater just long enough to remove the cold while trying to conserve gasoline.
