If you're like me, you get really excited to see the first flowers of spring. They signify the hottest days, less hibernation, and especially the holiday season. Unfortunately for many, going on vacation can cause a bit of anxiety. Many fear that when they go home, it will not be in the same condition as they left. Some are concerned about theft. Others may be concerned that there could be a plumbing leak that causes extensive damage while they are away. And the most common? "Is my house still there or it will just be a big pile of ashes?" This may seem a bit extreme, but the truth is that these things happen every year when people are on vacation. The good news is that many of these scenarios can be avoided with a little planning.
Probably the best way to reduce the risk of an incident is to make arrangements for someone to stay at home while you are away. the theory is that if someone is there, then the damage caused by a plumbing leak or fire could be contained or may be avoided all together.
