Paleo Lifestyle: Is It Worth Eat Like a Caveman -

A healthy lifestyle means making good choices when it comes to the food we put into our body. So what are the right choices when it comes to food

I think most of the American Millennials can agree, we had a tasty childhood: Captain Crunch for breakfast, PB & J sandwiches for lunch and Totino pizza rolls for dinner. I think back to my childhood and wonder how I was eating without gaining a pound - fast metabolism, right? Now that I am in my late twenties, the rapid metabolism has unfortunately slowed. Fortunately though, I have a wife who wants me around a long time, so we decided to make some changes. For us, these changes were to follow closely related to Paleo diet.

Unless you've been hiding under a rock for the past few years, you've probably heard about the Paleolithic diet. Paleo lifestyle is to eat whole foods that provide optimal, the nutrient-rich fuel for your body while avoiding processed, refined, poor plant food nutrients. There is much research on the advantages and disadvantages of this way of life, but for me and my wife, it's nothing but a positive experience was! Our clothes fit better, we have more energy and feel good from the inside

If you are considering making the switch to a Paleo lifestyle, you may want to consider a few things first:.

  1. what you can and can not eat. Understanding what you can and can not eat can be a big obstacle for many people.
    • Enjoy :. Beef, pork, game, poultry, eggs, seafood, vegetables, fruits, healthy fats, nuts and seeds
    • Avoid: cereals, soybeans, legumes, starches, processed dairy products, alcohol, refined sugar, food chemicals, food coloring, and artificial sweeteners.
  2. Your grocery bill will probably increase. Fruits, vegetables, meats and antibiotic fattening / cost more than highly processed foods that contain little or no nutritional value. However, you may end up spending less on medical care and dine out in the long run.
  3. You will have enough calcium, even without dairy products. You need calcium to build bones and teeth, but there are more sources than just the cow's milk. You can find calcium in kale, spinach, salmon, sardines, nuts, dates, figs, olives and broth bone
  4. There are a multitude of of potential health benefits Yes - .. You can lose weight! But you may notice other benefits such as steady blood sugar, reduces inflammation, reduces the risk of disease, clearer skin, more energy, improved sleep patterns, reduced allergies, increased sensitivity to insulin, and a healthy gut.
  5. have a plan goes a long way. By planning meals for the week ahead, my wife and I have reduced the amount of food we throw wasted.

I understand Paleo is a lifestyle choice - it is not for everyone. Time and additional expense can make it difficult for some to make a permanent lifestyle. It takes some time to cook meals every night, and you could end up with more dishes to wash. But think about the time of the added family you can have in your own home! If you want more information about the Paleo lifestyle, or how my wife and I have done the work for us, I'd love to hear from you in the comments below!
