The time was slow to warm up this spring, but before you know it, the thermometer will reach these high temperatures which are a necessary air conditioner. Before the temperature gets too hot, here are some tips for easy and safe installation of your window or wall pass-conditioning unit:
- Be sure -you read all the manufacturer's safety advice.
- Check the unit for black mold (if the device was previously used). If this mold, the unit must be cleaned or disposed of properly.
- If the machine is heavy, two people lift is strongly recommended.
- Make sure that both the circuit and the outlet can handle the load. If in doubt, ask a qualified electrician inspect the wiring in your home and advise you as to whether it will safely manage the air conditioning units.
- Always connect an air conditioner in a (three-pin) earthed. If a camera cord plug does not fit an outlet, have a qualified electrician to replace the outlet.
- If you should use an extension cord to reach an earth connection, make sure that you are using a cord designed for air conditioners and is UL listed, meets the specifications of OSHA, and can handle the power required by your air conditioner.

- Have your air conditioner cleaned and inspected before summer
- carry out routine maintenance checks during the summer, as regularly change or clean the filters.
- do not let heat build up and then try to immediately cool the zones by turning the controls at maximum settings. Start early units and cold spots throughout the day.
- Close blinds and curtains on the west and south sides of your home to block the sun.
- Turn off all unnecessary lights.
- Wait until late at night to use devices that produce heat, such as ovens, dishwashers and dryers.
- close unused rooms.
