After Upset special election for the Massachusetts GOP, is the reform of the health Doomed? -

Cape Cod Politically, the GOP Senate seat pick up is a devastating blow for Democrats who relied on a majority of 60 seats to pass sweeping health care reform and health insurance.

With a Republican in the seat of the late Senator Edward Kennedy, the Democrats can not send the bill to President Obama's desk without at least one vote from the Republican Senate.

Democratic leaders initially wanted the House to adopt the Senate version of the state to prevent a Republican filibuster, but Speaker Nancy Pelosi said today that the Chamber was not option possible. This leaves the president and Senate Democrats with the difficult decision to let this bill die or make further concessions to win at least one GOP vote.

Public polls show are still deeply divided on this health reform initiative, so that the Democrats are going to have to be very careful in how they continue in the coming weeks.

The most recent poll by the Associated Press found 42 percent support the reform plans being discussed health care in Congress and 42 percent opposed.
