The Canadian Association for Mental Health says that Canadians 1-5 adult will suffer from a mental disorder in their lifetime, with anxiety and depression being the most common. It may be more difficult to maintain the mental health of one during the cold winter months

Here are some tips for improving your mental health during the winter season :.

  • Taking a walk. Walking outside is more beneficial than you will get natural sunlight and vitamin D. If it is too cold for you to go outside, at least walk around the office or home.
  • Socialize with people around you. Plan to meet someone for coffee, or even stop by the office to your colleague instead of emailing them. This little interaction can boost your mood significantly.
  • therapy. Some people may need to use light therapy during the dark winter months. Many places sell light therapy lamps and can be a good idea if you feel the winter blues
  • Talking with a professional. If you feel depressed or anxious during the winter months, or at any time, talk to someone.
