Volunteerism is the fabric of the community. According to Statistics Canada, the number of volunteers is growing faster than the population of Canada! Almost 13.3 million Canadians volunteer each year. This group of people has made more than "2.07 billion hours in volunteer activities :. A workload is equivalent to just under 1.1 million full-time jobs" However, only about 10% of the population accounted for 53% of the work - what does that mean? We need more people volunteer in the community.

So why should you (or your organization) consider volunteering?

  • There is an opportunity to make a significant contribution to the community
  • Meeting new people and make new connections
  • learn new social skills
  • Become more engaged and self-conscious
  • Build team spirit
  • do a good job

Often, the reason for not volunteering is a lack of time. The good news is that there are opportunities out there for every type of volunteering. Are you into sports? Coach of a team. Do you enjoy writing? Take a minute to board. More on the story? Spend an afternoon at a care facility
